Kristen LeAnn Harris of Newton and Matthew Jerome Thorne of Decatur were married Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Newton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Griffin officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Leon Harris of Newton, Libby Jenkins of Decatur and Stanley Thorne of Newton.
Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Turner and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Leon "Bud" Harris, all of Newton.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Graham of Sebastopol and the late Lexie Graham of Decatur; Janette Thorne of Decatur and the late Willice Thorne.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Jeff Hardy, organist and vocalist; Scott McQuaig, soloist and guitarist.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents.
Kristin Nicholson Moore of Brandon served as maid of honor. Other attendants were Marie Stuart of Meridian, Jody Swartzwelder and Mandy Madrid of Dallas, both cousins of the bride, Dustie Usry of Newton and Heather Jenkins of Decatur, sisters of the bridegroom. Honorary attendants were Emily Strebeck of Newton and Pam Darsey of Union.
Casey Vance of Decatur was best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Stanley Thorne of Newton, Cory Bounds of Decatur, Justin McKinion of Newton, Adam Brown of Meridian, Jay Madrid of Dallas, uncle of the bride, and Shane Jenkins, cousin of the bride.
Bible scripture was read by Laurie Jenkins, cousin of the bride. Ann Blackburn of Newton served as greeter.
The bride's book and wedding programs were attended by Jada McKinion of Newton. The bridesmaids' luncheon was held the day before the wedding at Northwood Country Club in Meridian.
On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was held at Newton Country Club.
A reception was held at Newton Train Depot following the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in Destin, Fla., the couple resides in Decatur.
