Lady Tigers top Lady Warriors in 11 innings

Southeast Lauderdale's Heather Ward drove in Lindsey Graham to break a three-run tie in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Lady Tigers to a 5-3 victory over the homestanding Choctaw Central Lady Warriors.
Graham and Ward each went 2-for-5 at the plate for Southeast, and Heather Harper picked up the win on the mound.
Shela Willis went 3-for-4 for Choctaw Central, and Andrea Willis and Shanise Steed each went 2-for-4.
Southeast, now 11-3 overall and 5-1 in Division 5-3A play, continues its season against Wayne County at 2 p.m. Saturday on the road.

West Jones 1
The Meridian Lady Wildcats whipped the West Jones Lady Mustangs 20-1 in five innings in prep slow-pitch softball Thursday night.
Every batter in the Meridian lineup got a hit, as the Lady Wildcats picked up 29 in the win.
Meridian High's Brandi Limerick doubled and singled three times, and Artesian Boyd singled twice and doubled. Brittany Simmons and Courtney Trotter had three singles each.
Ebonee Ball doubled and singled for the Lady Wildcats, and Sarah Beckman, Carsheena Blanks, Ashley Clark and Tiffany Hickman each singled twice.
Meridian High improved to 8-2 overall, and West Jones fell to 1-8 with the loss.
The Lady Wildcats continue their season against Quitman at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Northeast Softball Complex.

Edinburg 5
Union opened its district play with a five-inning victory over Edinburg on Thursday.
Amechia Hickman led the charge for Union by swatting a double, two-run home run and a grand slam. Brittany Germany posted a double in the win.
Union outhit Edinburg 28-5, and Chasity Yates picked up the win for Union, recording two strikeouts.
Union continues its season against South Leake at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

NW Rankin 25-25-25
Meridian 20-23-8
Meridian High School lost in three straight games to Northwest Rankin in its second home match of the season on Thursday.
The Lady Cougars scored wins of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-8 to sweep the best-of-five match against the Lady Wildcats.
Mindy Mendiola scored four straight service points in the first two games, and Shaurice Miller knocked in three straight service points in the first game and four in the second game.
Northwest Rankin put the third game away early, scoring the first 10 points.
Meridian High continues its season against Murrah at 6 p.m. Tuesday on the road.

East Central 12
SENATOBIA Terrance Jackson scored on a 22-yard pass, 1-yard run and caught a two-point conversion to lead homestanding Northwest Mississippi Community College to a 14-12 win over East Central Community College on Thursday.
East Central had a chance to win the game with a little over two minutes left, but Jay McMillan missed a 27-yard field goal attempt.
After Northwest took a 14-0 lead, McMillan booted field goals of 29 and 25 yards and Terrance McFadden scored on a 13-yard run. East Central went for two after the touchdown, but the apparent conversion was nullified when ECCC offensive lineman James Ozment recovered the ball in the endzone after the ball advanced forward on a fumble.
McFadden had 110 yards on seven carries to lead ECCC, now 0-1 on the season. The Warriors visit Itawamba Community College Thursday at 7 p.m. Northwest is now 1-0.

Eight different players scored to lead the Lamar School Lady Raiders to an 8-0 division win over homestanding Copiah Academy on Thursday night.
Lamar, winners of three straight, are now 3-5-1 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Lady Raiders visit Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and return home for a 5 p.m. match on Thursday against Presbyterian Chrisitan of Hattiesburg.
Scoring goals for Lamar were Emily Thompson, Cheryl Luquire, Jessi Fort, Laura Bagley, Blair Barham, Jasmine Harris, Sumner Brown and Kristin Nicholson.
