    Alderwoman of Enterprise
    Services for Linda R. Buckley were held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Episcopal Church with the Revs. Rob Bagwell and Harriet P. Simmons officiating. Burial was in Enterprise Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
    Ms. Buckley, 61, of Enterprise, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a graduate of MSCW. She earned a master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She did Ph.D. studies at the University of Florida. She was a historian and was involved in her dream of restoring the Smith-Buckley Plantation. She was a member of the board of directors of both Historic Clarke County and the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce. She was an active alderwoman with the city of Enterprise.
    Survivors include her mother, Christine J. Buckley; and a sister, Olga B. Karnovich, both of Gulfport; a brother, Laurence B. Buckley Jr. of Pass Christian; a nephew, Laurence B. Buckley III of Corona, Calif.; two nieces, Kimberly A. Parnell of Falls Church, Va., and Rennie L. Karnovich of Little Rock, Ark.; a great-niece, Lauren A. Buckley of Corona; and special friends, Bill Baxley and Brenda R. Lord.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Laurence B. Buckley Sr.
    The family requests memorials be made to St. Mary Episcopal Church in Enterprise.
    Pallbearers were L.B. Buckley Jr., L.B. Buckley III, Bill Baxley, Brenda Reid Lord, Arthur McMillian and Michael Elfring.
    QUITMAN Graveside services for James Henry Welch were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Hebron Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Leo Smith officiating. Wright's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Welch, of Quitman, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include his wife, Mattie B. Welch of Quitman; sisters, Mary Lou Crick of Hattiesburg and Lola Grace Lewis of Pachuta; and several nieces and nephews.
    Millwright Construction Company employee
    BUTLER, Ala. Services for McDuffie Hendrix will be held today at 11 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Wesley Slay and Edgar Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
    Mr. Hendrix, 81, of Toxey, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
    Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Anderson of Gilbertown, Marjorie Gibbs of Selma, Annette Kaiser of Mobile, Wanda Davis of Shelbyville, Tenn., Kathy Sims of Meridian, Miss., Delories Miller of Toxey and Martha Bivens of Meridian; sons, Charles Hendrix, David Hendrix and Darrin Hendrix, all of Toxey; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
    Retired seamstress
    DEKALB Services for Hazel K. Shirley will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Sam Hull, Lannie May and James Ruffin officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery.
    Mrs. Shirley, 79, of DeKalb, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at Mississippi Care Center of DeKalb.
    Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Shirley of DeKalb and Peggy Faye Beaulieu of Bedford, Texas; sisters, Mary Ella Shirley of Winchester, Ky., Alaine Watkins of Macon, Joyce Creel of Matheston and Elizabeth Goldman of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Calvin "T.C." Kynerd of Meridian, Ira Kynerd of Pearl and Charles Kynerd of Long Beach; and four grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Shirley.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Retired shop foreman
    Services for Elmer E. Rogers Jr. will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert H. Horrell officiating. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery.
    Mr. Rogers, 82, of Collins, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Collins. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a shop foreman for 51 years at Soul Steam Feed Works and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
    Survivors include his sisters, Effie Shirley of Meridian and Earline Abrams of Cuba, Ala.; a brother, Elvin "Bo" Rogers of Meridian; a special friend, Mitzi Tyler of Meridian; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Eula and Elmer Rogers; a sister, Evelin Sollie; and brothers, Edsel, Earl and Erbert Rogers.
    Pallbearers will be his nephews.
    Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
    Retired civil service
    NEWTON Services for Gerald Sanders Smith will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Clarke-Vendable Baptist Church with the Revs. Philip Smith and Nathan Stamper officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Smith, 83, of Decatur, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, in Birmingham, Ala. He was a faithful member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church for more than 30 years serving in many different capacities. His passion was teaching God's word to couples.
    Survivors include his son, Philip Smith and his wife, Anita, of Leeds, Ala.; grandchildren, Whitney, Hannah and Clarke; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Humphreys Smith.
    The family requests memorials be made to Clarke-Venable Baptist Church Building Fund.
    Pallbearers will be Milton Thornton, George Smith, Avery "Bud" Smith, Milton Smith, Richard Stamper and Stuart Smith.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
