Jason Anders and Richard Ezell came out of a three-way tie with a birdie on the first playoff hole to win the Jimmy Sandusky Memorial Tournament on Sunday.
Donnie Hollingsworth and David Kirk, who began Sunday's round at the top of the leaderboard, finished in second place ahead of Johnny Boykin and Wayne Shelton after a scorecard playoff. The three teams finished their 36 holes at 118.
Anders and Ezell, who shot a 57 on Saturday, picked up four strokes for a final-round 61 but finished strong to get in playoff. The duo eagled the 442-yard No. 14 hole, birdied the next two holes and scored pars on No. 17 and No. 18.
Hollingsworth and Kirk, whose 55 on Saturday was the low round of the tournament, shot a 63 in the final round en route to their second-place finish. Boykin and Shelton, who began the day in third place with a 58, finished in the same position after a 60 on Sunday.
The three teams represented a trend of mostly higher scores across the field.
One noteable exception to that standard was the 57 posted by Benji Carpenter and Mike Carpenter for Sunday's lowest score. After Saturday's 61, Carpenter and Carpenter missed the cut for the championship flight by just one stroke before posting a two-round score that tied them with the winners' 118.
The Carpenters won the first flight by five strokes.
Walter Hurst and Bootsie Roberts also improved in the final round. Their 59 on Sunday gave them a two-round score of 124 for first place in the second flight.
Jack Blackledge and Jimmy Whitehead shaved four strokes off their 68 on Saturday for a 132, giving them a narrow win in the third flight.
Andrew Riley and Jim Williams, who began the day in a seven-way tie for first in the fourth flight after a first-round 70, outdistanced their competition with a 62 on Sunday.
In the fifth flight, Robert Carney and Jerry Cox fired a 1-under 69 on Sunday for a flight-winning total of 141.
A total of 67 two-person teams competed in the tournament.
