78th anniversary
David and Allie White of Meridian celebrated their 78th anniversary on Saturday, July 17, 2004. The Whites were married July 17, 1926. They have one son, the late Dr. Reginald White, two grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Johnson recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with their family on Jekyll Island, Ga. The couple's children are Ava Barr and her husband, David, of Meridian, and Janis Johnson of Long Beach, Calif. They have two grandchildren, Allison Deming and her husband, Brian, of Hattiesburg, and John David Barr of Meridian. The Johnsons were married June 1, 1954, by the Rev. Homer Peden at Soules Chapel Methodist Church in Lauderdale County.
35th anniversary
Brenda and Cayton McLeod celebrated their 35th anniversary on Monday, July 12, 2004. They were married on July 12, 1969 in Hattiesburg. The couple have two children, Cindy Cole and Scott McLeod and his wife, Renee, and five grandchildren, Samantha Cole, Shelby Cole, Ashley McLeod, Molly McLeod and Sean Cole.
50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Tucker will celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 31, 2004, with a reception hosted by their children. The reception will be
2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Family Life Center at Pine Grove Church in the Martin community. The couple have four children, Keith Tucker, Daryl Tucker, Shari Veazey and Jeri Phillips. They have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The Tuckers were married July 31, 1954, at the home of the bride's parents in the Martin community. Mrs. Tucker is the former Joyce Davis. Mr. Tucker is retired from Smith's Bakery in Meridian and Mrs. Tucker is a former kindergarten teacher. The couple requests no gifts.
