Philly All-Stars undefeated in DYB Minor League tourney

Philadelphia continued to roll in the Dixie Youth Minor League District Four tournament at Center Hill on Tuesday night.
Philly cruised to a 10-0 win over West Lauderdale in the winners' bracket of the tournament. In the night's other game, Westside defeated East Mississippi 9-3.
On Thursday night East Mississippi will play Philadelphia's 9-year-old all-stars in an exhibition game at 6 p.m. and West Lauderdale and Westside will play in the 7:30 p.m. game. The winner of the night game will advance to play the Philly 10-year-old all stars in the championship game Friday night at 6 p.m.
On Tuesday night, Philadelphia used two big innings and great defense to take its second 10-run rule victory of the tournament.
"It was a great game," said Philly coach Jim Fulton. "That's two nights in a row and I just hope it will continue. We played hard and pitched really well. We hit the ball and scored runs and did everything we were supposed to do."
Philly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Lee Smith singled with two outs and scored on a double by Austin Smith.
Philly added three runs in the second inning to stretch the lead.
Ricky Thompson singled and Robert Greer walked. Chance Fortenberry followed with a two-run double to make the score 3-0.
Fortenberry later scored on an error and Philadelphia took a 4-0 lead.
West Lauderdale had its only scoring chance in the top of the third inning as Trey Davis led off the inning with a single and Garrett Hagan added a single to give West Lauderdale two runners on base.
Philly pitcher Austin Vowell settled down and struck out the final two batters of the inning to end the threat, however.
Philly used walks to score five runs in the bottom of the third inning. John Tinsley, Johnny Gregory and Kip Fulton each walked to start the inning and Joel Whitney delivered a two-run single to make the score 6-0.
Lee Smith brought in a run with a ground out and an error allowed another Philadelphia run to score. Fortenberry walked with the bases loaded to bring in the final run of the inning.
Philadelphia added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the 10-0 victory in four innings.
Westside 9
East Mississippi 3
West Side jumped out to an early lead and held on to eliminate East Mississippi on Tuesday night.
Westside scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Deonte Eiland, Trevante Houston and Vondrick Carter each walked to start the game.
Decedrick McCarty delivered a single and Kendrick Monroe walked to help Westside take the 4-0 lead.
East Mississippi scored a run in the bottom of the first inning as Kendrick Walk singled and scored on a double by Wesley Fagan.
Hunter Thrower walked and later scored on a ground out to cut the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the second inning.
Westside again scored four runs to stretch the lead in the top of the third inning.
Eiland singled and Houston walked to start the rally. After a fielder's choice, an error by East Mississippi allowed two runs to score. Monroe followed with an RBI single and another run scored on a wild pitch to make the score 8-2.
East Mississippi scored in the fourth to make the score 8-3. Micah Redmond singled and scored on a ground out by Devon Stone.
Westside scored an insurance run in the fifth inning to make the final score 9-3.
