State Games keeping eyes on weekend's weather reports

State Games of Mississippi workers and participants are keeping their eyes on sky and the radar screen.
With rain canceling out the first day of the baseball tournament on Thursday and threatening it today, Games executive director April Luke said the staff is looking out for possible weather problems entering the state-wide, Olympic-style event's last weekend.
Seven of the 11 sports to be played this weekend are outdoors.
Baseball, canoe/kayak, cycling road race, mountain bike race, adult soccer, youth and adult tennis and four-man volleyball are outdoor events.
The high school basketball tournament and bowling are the two indoor sports, and dressage, which is held at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center, and adult swimming, which is held at Meridian Community College, both have roofs over the sites.
Though the majority of the sports are outdoors, Luke said this is the best weekend to be able to work with bad weather.
As of Thursday, no plans have been made to change sites and times for Saturday's and Sunday's events.
