Lamar works on game in Florida

The Lamar boys' basketball team got some competition and worked on team chemistry with a trip to the Bash on the Beach in Fort Walton, Fla.
The Raiders, along with 41 other teams, attended the team camp to get some summer work done.
The Raiders took 18 players to the camp and split into two different teams to get more experience.
The first team for Lamar went 5-3 during the three-day camp, and the second team finished with a record of 3-5. The teams played regulation games with trained referees that were there for in clinic for Florida officials.
This was Lamar's second trip to the camp after attending the competition last year.
The trip helped the Raiders work on some team chemistry during this offseason.
The Raiders, which lost just one senior off last year's team, started the camp with a lost to St. Paul, Ky., but then reeled off four straight wins.
Lamar beat Crestview (Fla.) and then knocked off East Central. The Raiders also beat Scott Hill Christian Academy (Fla.) and Orangewood (Ohio) during the run.
The Raiders have also been playing games with some area high schools during a summer league to get ready for the season.
Lamar will be headed to a camp hosted by Madison Ridgeland Academy on July 5 and will then get a break before the school year starts.
The Raiders hope the extra work and 12 seniors will get them through a tough division this upcoming season.
According to Harber, the Raiders got some good competition to prepare them for the tough MPSA AAA schedule.
