100th Birthday
Myrtle Willis McNeese celebrated her 100th birthday on May, 27, 2004. She was born in 1904 to Robert Lee and Mary Ann Frazier Edwards in the Bethesadia Community near Philadelphia. She was married to William R. Willis on May 1, 1938, until his death in 1965. The couple had one son, Edward Willis, and lived in Philadelphia. Later, she married her second husband, Chester Eugene McNeese, and moved to Union. She has never worked outside of the home, but was a devoted wife and mother. She has two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Four of McNeeses 12 siblings are still living. They are Raymond Edwards of Brandon, Pete Edwards of Chunky, Goldie Mae Smith and Mavis Herrington, both of Union.
50th anniversary
James Lee "J.L." and Nora Talbert Eshee recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. They were married on May 15, 1954, in Neshoba County. The couple has two children and two grandchildren. J.L. is retired from driving a gasoline truck and Nora is retired from the Union School District.

Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Windmeyer will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception hosted by their children on June 20, 2004, from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at The First Church of God, 4104 40th Ave. Sonny and Charlene Windmeyer were married at Grace Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, Texas, on June 19, 1954. They moved to Meridian in 1959. The Windmeyer's children are Candi Nichols, Christy Nutt, Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Alday,and the late Michael Windmeyer. The Windmeyers have six grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts, please.
40th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. L.R. "Bud" Shumate celebrated their anniversary on the Gulf Coast. They were married in Reno, N.V., on June 13, 1964. The couple has two children, Curtis Shumate and his wife, Allison, and Louise Stevens and her husband, Justin, all of Daleville. They have three grandchildren, Eli Shumate, Elizabeth Shumate and Brendan Stevens. Mr. Shumate is retired from the U.S. Navy and Mrs. Shumate worked for the Meridian Post Office.
50th anniversary
Art and Becky Davey celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, June 12, 2004, with a reception hosted by their five children. The reception was at Union Station in Meridian and was followed by Art and Becky's departure on Amtrak for New Orleans. The Daveys were married on June 12, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio. Following Art's graduation from Anderson College in Anderson, Ind., the Daveys served churches in Louisiana, Virginia and Mississippi. In Meridian, Becky served as a counselor for Care Lodge and Art served in the chaplaincy program at East Mississippi State Hospital. For the past 27 years, the couple owned Davey's Tax Service and was in private counseling. They have 13 grandchildren who live in three different states. Their children are Paul Davey, Amy "Becky" Mauldon, Beth Britt, Barbie Sullivan and Mark Davey.
