Retired
UNION Services for Dorothy Davis were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was to be in Flora Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, 76, of Decatur, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a retired telephone operator.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Davis and her husband, Jimmy Nolan, of Hazlehurst and Teresa Davis of Decatur; a granddaughter, Michelle Campbell of Florida; three sisters, Carolyn Lane and her husband, Ben, of Clinton, Lyla White and Linda Frink and her husband, Paul, all of Decatur; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ridell Alexander of Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Davis; and her parents, Herschel and Ola James.
Pallbearers were Paul Frink, David Savell, Preston Welch, Greg Russell, Bobby James and Billy Chaney.
GILBERTOWN, Ala. Graveside services for Walter Fred Schlemmer Sr. were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Brightwater Cemetery with the Rev. Clovis Lewis officiating. Phillips Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schlemmer, 83, of Toxey, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Marion.
Survivors include his son, Walter F. Schlemmer Jr. of Toxey; three sisters, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Mae Schlemmer.

Services for Miriam Creel Brewster will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Coker's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Keller and Danny Blain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brewster, 90, of Meridian, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Guardian Angel Hospice. She was retired from Van Zyverden and a member of Coker's Chapel United Methodist Church. Beauty of flowers fashionably arranged is one way of remembering Miriam Brewster small in statue, but gifted with a creative nature that only God could give.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Creel of Yazoo City and Victoria Stodard of Meridian; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Brewster; brothers, Jim Creel and Jack Creel; and a sister, Agnes Creel.
Memorials may be made to Coker's Chapel United Methodist Church Fund.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Creel, Jimmy Creel, Wayne Creel, Billy Creel, Hewitt Stodard and Sonny Pigford.
Visitation will be today 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church.
Retired letter carrier
BUTLER, Ala. Services for Jesse A. "Jess" Sims will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Lusk Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sims, 88, of Jachin, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in his home.
Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Keahey of Jachin; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jesse A. Sims Jr.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
ACKERMAN Services for Mack Thomas "Sonny" Pritchett will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Arthur "Little John" Smith II officiating. Burial will be in McClelland Cemetery in Sturgis.
Mr. Pritchett, 61, of Russell Springs, Texas, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his sons, Tim "Tinker" Pritchett and his wife, Amanda, of Ackerman and Joe Pritchett and his wife, Tori, of Sturgis; a daughter, Angie Crouch and her husband, Zane, of Meridian; his mother, Mary Ellen Pritchett of Ackerman; and seven grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Wallace H. Gordon, 85, of Porterville, who died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
