What better surprise for your sweetheart this weekend than to treat her to a dinner and dance?
Marvin Weir and The Good Timers will perform Saturday at Meridian's Senior Citizen Center after a potluck dinner at 5:30 p.m. The center is at 3300 32nd Ave.
The concert is being held in honor of Older Americans Month, but anyone over the age of 21 is welcome.
There is no admission to the event, but Senior Citizen Center Director Barbara Wells requests that you bring a covered dish for supper.
The events are being organized by The Lauderdale County Council on Aging, formed in 1980 to show seniors how valuable they are to the community. Other events planned this month include:
Tuesday: Bowling tournament at 1 p.m. at Dixie Bowl Lanes, North Hills Street. Prizes to be awarded to both ladies' and gentlemen's teams.
Every Thursday during May: The Senior Citizen Center, 3300 32nd Ave., will host bingo at 2 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at each of 10 games. Call 485-1812 for information.
