Michigan man charged in Collinsville bank robbery

Lauderdale County sheriff's deputies took a suspect into custody Thursday 12 minutes after Union Planters Bank in Collinsville was robbed.
Dispatchers received an emergency call about the robbery at 9:19 a.m. David L. Jackson, 44, of 4294 West Davis St., Detroit, Mich., was arrested at 9:31 a.m.
In a news conference Thursday, Sheriff Billy Sollie said Jackson faces charges of armed robbery and felon in possession of a weapon. He also said Jackson fit the description of a suspect sought in connection with a hotel robbery Wednesday night in Philadelphia.
Sollie said deputies got a description of the car the suspect was driving as they raced to the scene.
The suspect fled, leading deputies, highway patrol and department of corrections officers on a high-speed chase on Highway 80 West, across 65th Avenue.
Investigators learned that the silver Mercury Sable Jackson was driving had been stolen in Michigan. Sollie said evidence, including money, a weapon and clothing was recovered. Prosecution of the case is being turned over to the the FBI.
Sollie said no one was hurt during the robbery in Collinsville and that Jackson allegedly produced a note telling the bank teller what to do.
