The semi-annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo makes its return to Lauderdale County this weekend for two big nights of professional rodeo competition.
The events that will make up the semi-annual event include bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, bare-back riding, saddle-bronc riding, and women's barrel racing.
Mike Mathis of Lufkin, Texas will be the announcer of the rodeo once again this year and he s very excited about returning to the community of Lauderdale on Hwy. 45 North.
"This is such a great event for the area and I always enjoy being a part of this rodeo," said Mathis. "It is such a great facility and we are supposed to have great weather for the weekend."
The two-night rodeo will feature one of the best-known clowns in the United States. Lecile Harris has been voted as best clown four times by the National Rodeo Association in Las Vegas.
"He (Harris) does such a great job and the kids love him coming to this rodeo every year," said Mathis. "This rodeo also attracts some of the best cowboys that you will find and I am really looking forward to this weekend."
The professional rodeo is sanctioned by the PRCA and tickets are still available for both Friday and Saturday night. Tickets for adults are $10 and $6 for children.
"I have been announcing this rodeo for almost 10 years and we encourage everyone to come out and see one of the best rodeos in the area," added Mathis. "We will also have activities for the kids. It should be a fin night for both young and old."
