The Lauderdale County School Board decided Monday to hire a judge to hear a case next week involving a Southeast Lauderdale High School teacher who was fired.
Board members and their attorney, John Compton, said they would not name the teacher or say why the teacher was fired. The teacher was fired a week ago by Superintendent David Little.
Compton said the unidentified teacher filed an appeal and requested a formal hearing.
Compton said the board will have 30 days to make its decision after the hearing ends and a written transcript is presented by the court reporter. He said the hearing could last more than a week.
