St. Patrick School celebrates National Catholic Schools Week

Students at St. Patrick School said the best part of National Catholic Schools Week was Tuesday when they didn't have to wear uniforms to school.
More than 8,000 Catholic schools across the country are celebrating National Catholic Schools Week, and St. Patrick School has held a different festivity each day this week.
The theme for this year's celebration is, "A Faith Filled Future." On Wednesday, the school hosted a career fair and students got the opportunity to talk to representatives from Rush Foundation Hospital, Riley Hospital, a local television station, an insurance company and the Meridian Fire Department.
La Fondra Kenney, parent of three St. Patrick School students, organized the career fair.
Bator said she isn't sure what she wants to be when she grows up, but she said she thought the fire truck and the firefighters' equipment was was "very cool."
But regardless of the exciting careers represented at the career fair, fifth-grader Robby Shine said he is certain about what he wants to do with his future.
On Monday, students wrote letters and Valentine's Day cards for soldiers serving in Iraq, and presented them to local military to mail to the soldiers overseas.
Rev. Elvin Sunds, minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church, said Catholic schools have made an important contribution to the U.S. and to Meridian.
