BUTLER, Ala. Graveside services for Arthur "Pete" Smith will be held today at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Russell Wray officiating. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 59 of Toxey, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004 in his home. He was retired from Peterbilt of Florida, Inc. and he served in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam.
Survivors include a son, Tony Smith of Lakeland, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Services for Stephen L. "Grandpa" Roper will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Barham Chapel with Dr. Jason BIrd officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Roper, 53, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004 in his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three daughters, Shannon Mott and her husband, Vernon III, Shelley Roper, all of Meridian and Stephanie Graham and her husband, Derek, of Hattiesburg; a son, Shawn Burkhalter and his wife, Casey; five grandchildren, Nathan Mott, Shelby and Blayke Burkhalter, Stephen and Skyler; two sisters, Linda Murphy and her husband, Barry and Joellyn Temple and her husband, Bill; three nephews, Barry Murphy, Bill Temple III and Josh Murphy; four nieces, Alisha Miller, Amanda Murphy, Jennifer Temple and Christi Jones; great nieces, Alexis, Avery and Morgan and one great nephew, Austin, all of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, S.L. and Joyce Roper.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Burkhalter, Julian Wall, Ruston Russell, Jerry Brown, Josh Murphy and Scott Miller.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Hendel, 43, of Meridian, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her mother, Majorie Hendel of Chicago.
Visitation will be Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Dueitt of Mobile, Ala. and a native of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004 in her home.
Survivors include her husband, Freddie Roy Dueitt of Mobile, Ala; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Ala. and Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gammil, 84, of Greenville, S.C., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004 in Greenville.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
