Ruth Howell of Meridian and Keith Purvis of Pelahatchie were married Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Jones Chapel Church of God in Meridian with the Rev. Billy McKay officiating.
Parents of the couple are the late Billy and Grace Roberts of Silas, Ala., and the late Edgar and Margie Purvis of Pelahatchie.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Faye McKay pianist; Tracy Whigham and Jennifer Mosby, vocalists.
The bride was given in marriage by her sons, Chris, David, Robbie and Jonathan Whigham.
The bride wore an ivory long sleeved gown with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice was adorned with lace appliques and seed pearls. The dress featured a keyhole back with a detachable chapel-length train. The hem of the gown featured lace appliques and seed pearls.
Annie "Crickett" Pitts of Waynesboro served as matron of honor. Haley Whigham of Millry, Ala., was flower girl.
Cameron Purvis of Birmingham, Ala., was best man. Ushers were Chris Whigham and David Whigham, both of Millry, Robbie Whigham of Silas, Ala., and Jonathan Whigham of Laurel.
Cameron Whigham of Millry was ring bearer. Program attendant was Evelyn Taylor.
A reception was held in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.
Assisting at the reception were Susan Puckett, Susan Reede, Nikki Morse, Helen Youngblood, Terri Dunn and Misty Hollingsworth.
After a honeymoon in Pensacola, Fla., the couple resides in Pelahatchie.
