Meridian falls in prep hoops

Jacolby Davis had 17 points and Cyrus McGowan chipped in 16 for Meridian on Tuesday night, but it was barely enough to eclipse Lanier's leading scorer in an 82-71 Wildcats loss.
The Bulldogs got 32 points from Charles White, 16 points from Al Graham and 12 from Monta Ellis as Meridian suffered its first loss of the season.
Chris Harris added nine points for the 4-1 Wildcats.
Philadelphia girls 48
Nanih Waiya 43
The Lady Tornadoes took a 48-43 win over Nanih Waiya to move its record to 3-1 on the season. Shanese Hunter led the way in scoring for Philadelphia with 12 points and Dominetrix Hunter chipped in with 11 points.
Nanih Waiya was led in the scoring department by Heather Steele and Jaimee Jones with 11 points. Amber Eaves also cracked double figures with 10 points.

The Tornadoes captured a win to also move its record to 3-1 with an impressive win over Nanih Waiya. Trey Beamon led the Philadelphia offense with 22 points and John Williams also turned in a great night with 15.
Micheal Finkley and Daniel Lagrone led Nanih Waiya with 10 points apiece in the loss.
Edinburg boys 73
Nanih Waiya 63
Nanih Waiya remained winless at 0-4 after tripping up on the road against Edinburg on Tuesday. Michael Finkley paced the Warriors with 20 points, and Jeremiah Eichelberger had 12 points for Nanih Waiya. Steven Rogers had 10.
Edinburg was led by Brandon King, who poured in 26 points.

The Lady Warriors hustled at both ends of the floor on Tuesday to pick up a 57-19 win on the road versus Edinburg.
Ashley Eiland scored 16 for Nanih Waiya and Amber Eaves added 13 points to help the Lady Warriors improve to 3-1 on the year.
Louisville girls 77
West Point 49
Louisville pushed its record to 6-1 with a big win on the road at West Point on Monday. Dee Forrest had an amazing night for Louisville with 39 points and Erica Hardin notched 21 points in the win.
Erica Edwards led West Point with 17 points and Ebony Fears added 16.
West Point boys 72
Louisville 59
The boys were unable to get the sweep for Louisville by taking a 13-point loss to West Point. Douglas Hudson led Louisville with a game-high 25 points and Theo Avant led West Point in scoring with 20 points.
Columbia boys 81
Wayne Academy 71
The Jaguars were unable to capture its third win of the season (2-2) by dropping a ten-point loss to Columbia Academy on Monday. Patton Stanley led Wayne Academy with 28 points, while John Kirkland added eight points in the loss for the Jaguars.
Patrician Aca. girls 70
W. Alabama Prep 12
Kane Andrews scored 13 and Margot Etheridge had 12 in a huge win for Patrician Academy, which evened its record at 2-2.
Stephanie Russell also hit double figures for Patrician, chipping in 10 points.
West Alabama's Samantha Sullivan had more than half her team's offense, scoring seven points.

West Jones scored several early goals in the first half en route to a shutout win over the Lady War Eagles in soccer action on Monday in SoSo. Julie Pyatt had a goal for the Lady Mustangs and Meghann Ainsworth also notched her 20th career goal in the win for West Jones.
West Jones boys 10
Wayne County 0
The Mustangs scored seven goals in the first half to dispose of Wayne County to obtain the sweep on the night. Lee Hubbard and Jacon Koechner each had three goals apiece in the shutout win for West Jones.
Tyler Lightsey recorded his first career shutout as the keeper for the Mustangs.

Chad Brunson scored two goals, and Coleman Hobgood and B.J. Barham each scored once as Northeast Lauderdale picked up a 4-1 win over Petal.

Britney Britain had a hat trick, scoring three goals for the Lady Trojans on Tuesday night in a 10-0 shutout against visiting Petal. Danielle Smith and Ivy Rawson each scored twice for Northeast, which improved to 6-1-2.
Candace White, Mallory Pace and Lindsey Tingle scored once for Northeast.
