Students remember Sept. 11

Poplar Springs Elementary School fifth-grader Mary Paige Griffin was so scared Sept. 11, 2001, when terrorists attacked New York and Washington that she couldn't sleep.
One year later, in honor of the victims of the terrorist attacks, Poplar Springs Elementary School students and faculty formed a "human American flag."
The flag was the idea of third-grade teacher Charlotte Bryan. While there won't be another flag this year, students will still honor the memory by wearing red, white and blue today.
Even though two years have passed, students said, they believe no one has forgotten Sept. 11.
Tyler Stanley, 10, said he prays every night that the soldiers now in Iraq will come home. He also said all he could think about after the Sept. 11 attacks was his dad.
