Old rivalries, tough division for Tigers

The Southeast Lauderdale Tigers will continue a couple of rivalries and renew some old ones on the gridiron this upcoming football season. And that's before division play even gets underway.
The Tigers have made good additions to their non-division schedule this season.
This year, all the division games for the Tigers will start at 7 p.m. while the non-division games start at 7:30 p.m.
Southeast will start off the year by traveling to renew an old rivalry with Enterprise. The two teams played each other every year at one time, but schedule conflicts caused an end to the rivalry until this season.
The rivalry games continue at Southeast as the Tigers take on Northeast Lauderdale on Sept. 5 and face Clarkdale in a Thursday night game on Sept. 11.
Then the tough division play begins. Division 7-3A lost Heidelberg and Philadelphia this year but added two tough teams in Forest and Morton.
The Tigers will get division play on the road against Forest on Sept. 19. Southeast follows with more tough division play.
Southeast will then close out the regular season with a trip to Richton on Oct. 31. The two teams used to play often, but this will be the first time the teams have faced off in the last few seasons.
The Tigers will try to improve from their 1-9 finish last season. Work in the offseason and more experience players should help Southeast improve its record greatly.
The Tigers return quarterback Drew Harper this year and also have experienced linemen Daniel Tucker, Jeff Swanner and Matt Pickett returning. Zack Wiskerchen also returns and will probably start in the linebacking group for the Tigers.
Addition of assistant coach Rodgers Rahaim to Taylor's staff should also help the Tigers. Rahaim and Dwane Taylor Jr. will be assistant coaches for Taylor this season.
