Bulldogs take two victories

The Bay Springs boys' basketball team rolled to a pair of wins in the second day of competition at the State Games of Mississippi on Friday.
The Bulldogs notched victories over Lake and Kemper County at the East Central Community College Gym to keep their record a perfect 3-0 in the State Games tournament.
Bay Springs relied on sharp shooting from the free throw line to snatch a 52-31 win over Lake in its first game of the day.
The Bulldogs scored seven of their last nine points in the first half from the line to take a 24-13 lead into the game's final 14 minutes.
Bay Springs was propelled to a 64-47 victory over Kemper County in its final game of the day by a three-pointer midway through the final half.
The Bulldogs held a slim 44-41 lead over the Wildcats, until the team sank its lone three-point shot of the second half to take a six-point lead, with seven minutes left in the game.
Bay Springs followed the long-range basket with a 20-6 run to close out the win.
Jefferson Co. boys 49
Heidelberg Academy 14
In the opening game of a six-game slate at ECCC, the Jefferson County boys overwhelmed Heidelberg Academy.
Chris Carradine led the way for Jefferson County scoring a game-high 11 points, Eddie Davenport and Marcus Wilson added nine and seven, respectively

Nadosha Strickland tallied a game-high 20 points for Bay Springs, and Kristi Martin and Rushee Ross scored five and four points, respectively, in the win.
Stacy Thomas scored 11 points for Jefferson County, and Ayesha Fountain and Jacqueline Pinder added seven and six points, respectively.
Pillow Academy girls 32
Nanih Waiya 24
Stribling Whites led the way for the Pillow Academy Lady Mustangs in the team's win over Nanih Waiya scoring a game-high nine points.
Katie Buford tallied seven points for Pillow Academy, and Clansey Flault added six.
Heather Steele paced Nanih Waiya's offense with seven points, and Amber Evans and Jamie Jones added five and four points, respectively.

Cleveland 42
Markendrick Boyd put an exclamation point on William Sullivan's win over Cleveland with a two-handed dunk in the game's final eight seconds. He finished the game with 12 points.
Clyde Moone led the way to victory for William Sullivan scoring a game-high 16 points, and Robert Scott added seven.
