Band director
Graveside services for Curtis James Holditch were be held today at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with the Rev. David Wilkinson officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Holditch, 54, of Meridian, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was the band director at Southeast Lauderdale High School. He was a member of Meridian Community Band, where he served as concert master of the Meridian Woodwinds Ensemble and was a member of the MCC Jazz Band and Flute Choir.
He played in the U.S. Army's First Army Band and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam.
Survivors include his step-father, Gene Reece of Lauderdale; a sister, Pat Hunter and her husband, John, of Memphis, Tenn.; aunts, Mrs. Ray "Sis" Price of Laurel, Mrs. Fred Mayatt and Mrs. Tommie Clearman, both of Collinsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the Southeast Lauderdale High School Band.

COLUMBUS Services for Wilford "Ray" Ward will be held today at 2 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mickey Dalrymple officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Ward, 62, of West Point, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital.
Survivors include his sons, Bobby Ward and his wife, Gina, of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and Donnie Roberts of Augusta, S.C.; daughters, Denise Klieber and her husband, Steve, of Columbus, Sonja Webb and her husband, Cole, of Meridian, Tina Spurling of Indiana, Debbie Alexander and Doris Edwards, both of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Clegg and his wife, Brenda, of South Carolina.
YORK, Ala. Services for Birdie Lee Wedgworth will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Tatum officiating. Burial will be in York Cemetery.
Mrs. Wedgworth, 93, of York, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Don Wedgworth of York; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Guice Wedgworth.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

QUITMAN Services for Margaret Ellen Lawrence will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Stonewall Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn McRaney officiating. Burial will be in Stonewall Cemetery. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lawrence, 70, of Stonewall, died Thursday, June 19, 2003, in her home.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Smith and her husband, Danny, of Quitman, Michele Morris and her husband, Billy, of Pachuta and Catina Allen of Rose Hill; her mother, Margie Combest of Stonewall; brothers, Bobby Combest and his wife, Patty, Maxie Combest and his wife, Joann, all of Stonewall, and Freddie Combest and his wife, Joy, of Quitman; sisters, Bonnie Carroll and her husband, Tommy, of Enterprise and Dianne Moulds and her husband, Bobby Joe, of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Laurie Burress of Atlanta, Renee Jones of Ellisville, Ryan Smith of Quitman, Bethany and Bailey Morris, both of Pachuta, Jacob and Caitlyn Allen, both of Rose Hill, and Kristie Murray of Enterprise.
She was preceded in death by her father, J.M. Combest; and her husband, Ronald Lawrence.
Pallbearers will be Jodie Combest, Keith Combest, Charles Combest, Steve Combest, Joey Smith and Bobby Milstead.
Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Flanagan, 81, of Kemper County, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a long-time seamstress at The Vogue in Meridian.
Survivors include her son, Roland H. Flanagan Sr. and his wife, Martha, of Brandon; sisters, Elizabeth Terry McKeithen and Clara Eloise Terry, both of Meridian, and Hazel Evelyn Terry of Bailey; a brother, the Rev. Wallace R. Terry Jr. and his wife, Apphia, of Bailey; grandsons, Roland H. Flanagan Jr. and his wife, Angelica, of Pearl and Robert W. Flanagan and his wife, Rae, of Byram; five great-grandchildren, Cierra A. Flanagan, Jessica S. Flanagan, Justin W. Flanagan, Christopher W. Flanagan and Kelli Rae Flanagan; sisters-in-law, Jane Terry of Meridian and Zelda Terry of Bailey; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther A. Flanagan; a great-grandson, Roland H. Flanagan III; a sister, Bonnie Ethridge; three brothers, Milton Terry, James Terry and A.C. Terry.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Services for Bishop George Roberts Sr. will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Holy Church of God in Newton with Bishop Curtis Dubose and Freddie Ford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Enterprise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Roberts of Newton, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, in Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie J. Roberts; a son, George Roberts Jr.; daughters, Cornelia Naylor, Louise Jones, Elsa Lena Roberts and Patricia McCune; a brother, Steve Roberts; sisters, Annie Donald, Bertha Moore and Sally Townsend; 19 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the church.
Services for Judy Carol Philyaw Bunn were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Murry officiating. Burial was in Barker's Cemetery.
Ms. Bunn, 45, of Woodstock, Ala., died Saturday, June 21, 2003, in her home. She was a graduate of Brookwood Alabama High School and worked for Butler Manufacturing for more than six years.
Survivors include her daughters, Candace Ashley Bunn of Adamsville, Ala., and Sarah Lyndsey Bunn of Sylvan Springs, Ala.; her mother, Margie Ann Kelly of Woodstock, Ala.; her father, Oree Philyaw of Kosciusko; sisters, Diane Philyaw Hutchinson of McCool, Melody Hammitt of Tupelo, Tammy Clary of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Katherine Kelly of McCalla, Ala.; brothers, Raymond Dawson Kelly of McCalla and David Philyaw of Kosciusko; her step-parents, Larry and Jane Kelly; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.V. Philyaw, Carl and Mary Bryan; a brother, Wayne Philyaw; and a sister, Memory Philyaw.
Pallbearers were Keith Cates, Billy Litchfield, Johnny Wilson, Gary Philyaw, Joshua Burns and Russell Wright.
Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Scarbrough and Johnny Graham.
