A group of frustrated residents who live along one of Meridian's main drainage canals is looking for answers.
The residents, including at least 12 families who live near Gallagher Creek, want to know why necessary repairs have not been made to improve the flow of water in the canal.
In recent years, they say, the drainage canal has slowly eroded parts of their property, become cluttered with debris and turned into a snake- and rat-infested hazard.
In the past, city and county officials have said they were unable to repair the creek because some parts flow through private property.
The group is expected to meet at 6:30 p.m. today at Druid Hills United Methodist Church, 3565 State Blvd., to map out a plan.
Harley said he began receiving phone calls from other residents a few weeks ago after he experienced erosion problems along the creek from last month's flash floods.
