Collinsville Day offers full day of fun

Collinsville Day has been expanded from a few hours to a full day of activities this year.
The annual event is scheduled to be held Saturday in Collinsville on the grounds of the Collinsville Community Center at the intersection of Highway 19 North and West Lauderdale Road.
Opening festivities are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., and will include a salute to the military, according to Connie Joyner, a member of the Collinsville Community Club, which sponsors the event.
Joyner said fried chicken plates will be for sale for $6 each, with proceeds going to the area's youth baseball program. She added that more than 30 vendors will set up booths for arts and crafts.
Antique cars will be on display and activities for children will be in operation, including pony rides and four-wheeler rides. Nearly 30 political candidates on the local and state level plan to attend, added Joyner.
Entertainment will also be provided throughout the day by local musical groups.
From 3 p.m.-6 p.m. a crawfish boil is planned as a fund-raiser for Lauderdale County Relay for Life. The annual campaign that raises money for the American Cancer Society.
Glenda Rowell, also a member of the Collinsville Community Club, aid health screenings will be offered throughout the day and she said booth space is still available.
Anyone wanting booth space must provide their own power cords and tables. For more information about Collinsville Day, or to purchase booth space for $10, call Rowell at 626-8578.
