Retired farmer
PHILADELPHIA Services for Dewey Belk will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be in Neshoba Cemetery.
Mr. Belk, 83, of Neshoba, died Monday, April 28, 2003, in his home. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Belk; daughters, Jean Savell and Ruthiellen Barker, all of Neshoba; a son, Hugh Belk of Neshoba; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Bennie Vincent of Collinsville and Pauline Smith of Bailey; brothers, Arley V. Belk of Pahrump, Nev., Gary Gene Belk of Byram and Norman L. Belk of Pearl.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dolphus Belk.
Visitation will be today 4 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Homemaker
HATTIESBURG Services for Gladys H. Newell will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will be Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.
Mrs. Newell, 104, of Hattiesburg, formerly of Meridian, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Hattiesburg Convalescent Center. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club of Meridian and Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church in Meridian.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce N. Stikes of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Marcia Carol Moore and Jack Clayton Speed Jr., both of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Melissa Anne Mott of Hattiesburg, Amanda Joyce Speed and Andrea Marie Speed, both of Austin, Texas, and Alayna Carol Speed of Jackson; and a great-great-grandchild, Bailey Alen Mott of Hattiesburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Newell.
Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Choctaw Tribal Police dispatcher
PHILADELPHIA Services for Carolyn Sam Henry will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Rev. David Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Tucker Cemetery in Philadelphia. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Henry, 57, of Philadelphia, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at the University Medical Center in Jackson.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet Willis of Philadelphia; sons, Milton Henry of Carthage and Bryant Henry of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Willis and Pat Buffington, both of Philadelphia, and Linda Marroquin of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and a half-brother, Ricky Matthews of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today in the family home in the Tucker Community.
Retired
Services for James Arlie McCallister were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Raymon Leake and Lane Busbee officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. McCallister, 95, of Meridian, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a retired paint contractor for Southern Railroad Paint Department and a member of First Baptist Church of Meridian.
Survivors include his sons, Roy F. McCallister and his wife, Della, and Leland S. McCallister and his wife, Shirley, all of Meridian; grandsons, DeWayne McCallister and his wife, Donna, of Meridian and Kenneth Breland of Vermont and Diane Coats of Carthage; and two great-granddaughters, Katie and Kelly Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise McCallister.
Memorials may be made to Heartfelt Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Pallbearers will be Lon Douglas, Ronnie McPhearson, Ron McPhearson, Larry Joiner, Jerry Tucker and Kevin Rainey.
Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Rachel Stokes Foster of Meridian, who died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home in Union for Mollie Stebbins of Union, who died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in Union.
Arrangements were incomplete at Clark's Memorial Funeral Home for Mamie Craig, 88, of Meridian, who died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, in her home.
