JACKSON Students participating in The Partnership for a Healthy Lauderdale County recently attended Lobbypalooza, an annual educational event sponsored by The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi.
The Frontline team spent the day learning about clean indoor air, sharpening their advocacy skills and developing activities to conduct during the next school year.
The event took place March 28 at the Vicksburg Convention Center. This is the first time that Lobbypalooza has been held in regional locations across the state.
Frontline is one of four tobacco prevention and education programs developed and implemented by the Partnership.
Through monthly activities, Frontline teams learn about the health hazards of using tobacco and alcohol and alcohol products, as well as tools that strengthen their communication skills and build self-esteem.
The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi is a public-private, nonprofit organization comprised of statewide government and non-governmental agencies, as well as community groups.
In its comprehensive approach to youth tobacco education, the Partnership combines community and faith-based efforts with school programs, cessation support, media and the enforcement of laws that prohibit the sale of tobacco to youth.
