JACKSON Services for John C. Hughes will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Lakewood South Cemetery.
Mr. Hughes, 87, of Jackson, formerly of Lauderdale County was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He served with the 137th Field Artillery Unit of the 81st Wildcat Division. Mr. Hughes was a retired service representative having worked for Mississippi Valley Gas for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his son, John C. Hughes Jr. of Jackson; grandchildren, Melissa Renea Hughes of Auburn, Ala. and John Morgan Hughes of Jackson; brothers, James W. Hughes of Alexandria, La., Stennis E. Hughes and Robert F. Hughes, both of Bailey; sisters, Bertie Jean Moore of Bailey, Annie Bell Motley and Kay Frances Chaney, both of Little Rock.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. and Tuesday noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Gaines Boykin, 71, of Meridian, who died Sunday, April 6, 2003, in his home.
