Between an early morning shower and an afternoon down pour, the Meridian Community College baseball team wrapped up its Spring Break baseball camp for five-to-14-year-old players on Thursday
The diamond clinic began last Tuesday and ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first two days and from 9 a.m. to noon on the final day. Three-day clinic drew about 60 kids to Scaggs Field.
The Eagles' coaches and players, who serve as instructors, said they were lucky the weather cleared up enough to hold the camp on the final day outdoors.
The camp focused on the fundamentals of throwing, batting and fielding.
Campers were divided into nine groups based on age, and they rotated between various stations through out each day working on different techniques.
Groups stay at each station for about 15 to 20 minutes before rotating to the next station.
The constant movement of the campers is vital to the success of the clinic, especially for the younger groups.
The camp participants are not the only ones that learn over the three-days.
Federico said the players, who help run the camp, also come out of the clinic armed with new knowledge.
