The What Works work group heard the last of 18 presentations that will help determine which programs in the Meridian Public School District are beneficial and which ones aren't.
Sylvia Autry, co-chairman of What Works, also recommended on Thursday that the district's promotion policy be revised "so social promotion in Meridian will come to an end."
In other business, Cheryl Thomas, a Meridian High School Counselor, said the Professional Development Program proves that individual growth is a major factor in professional development.
Professional Development is a program that helps administrators become organized. It includes Wednesday meetings for teachers and principals, new teacher orientation and help with classroom management.
After hearing the presentations, work group members rated each program on on scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being exemplary and 1 being inadequate.
The group also rated each program in separate categories, such as budget alignment, benefits to targeted population and their relation to overall district goals and curriculum.
The group has rated all 18 programs.
