Lara Tennille May of Meridian and Lt. j.g. James Lee Bell of Oak View, Calif., announce their engagement.
Miss May is the daughter of Martha E. May of Meridian and Mr. Bell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Leslie Bell of Oak View.
The wedding will be in May at State Boulevard Baptist Church in Meridian.
Miss May is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene V.D. May of Collinsville. She is the niece of Mary M. Day and the late Frank D. Day, Peggy M. Tingle and the late Charles E. Tingle Sr. of Meridian, and Bobbie P. May of Collinsville and the late James I. May.
The bride-elect is graduate of West Lauderdale High School, Meridian Community College and Mississippi State University-Meridian.
She is employed with the Virginia Beach, Va., School System.
Mr. Bell is the grandson of Trudy Bell of Oxnard, Calif., and the late James L. Bell; Ruth Barth of San Mateo, Calif., and the late Walter Barth.
Mr. Bell is a graduate of Nordhoff High School in Ojai, Calif., and received a degree from University of California in Santa Barbara.
He is employed with the U.S. Navy and earned his "wings of gold" at Naval Air Station Meridian.
Lt. j.g. Bell is now in flight school in Oceania, Va.
