Tigers left searching for first win of season

The Southeast Lauderdale Tigers are still looking for their first win of the season after falling to the Philadelphia Tornadoes 14-1 at Southeast Field in Division 5-3A baseball on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (0-2, 0-1) were run-ruled for the second straight game.
Cameron Tawater notched the victory for the Tornadoes.
The right-hander pitched three complete innings, giving up one run on four hits. He struck out five batters and walked one.
Phillip Butler received his second straight start for Southeast, but he was only able to complete two innings of work due to a nagging shoulder injury.
First year Southeast coach Jonathan Wells said the two losses for his team have been frustrating to deal with.
Philadelphia recorded its first run of the evening on a balk by Butler in the first inning.
Southeast tied the game at one in the bottom half of the first, after a lead off single by first baseman Brett Harper.
Harper scored later in the inning on a throwing error by Philadelphia catcher Jonathan Holland.
The Tigers were in position to add a couple of runs but a failed squeeze play caught junior center fielder Tyler Overby off the bag at third.
The Tornadoes went down in order in the top of the second. The third out coming on a diving effort by Overby.
Southeast threatened to get things going again in the bottom half of the second inning, thanks to back-to-back singles by junior left fielder James Pierce and sophomore catcher Bubba Shelby.
Philadelphia pitcher Cameron Tawater fanned the next two batters to shut down the scoring hopes of the Tigers.
The third inning proved to be a costly one for Southeast.
The Tornadoes were able to cross the plate six times due to seven Tigers' errors.
Philadelphia scored six runs on no hits and five walks and never looked back.
Insurance runs came to the aid of Philadelphia in the fourth and fifth innings due to the hot bats of Cameron Tawater and Mississippi State signee Tyler Threadgill.
Threadgill had two triples in as many at bats, and Tawater added a solo home run over the right-field wall and a RBI single to give Philadelphia the 13-run win.
Tawater finished the night 3-for-4 with two singles, a home run and two RBIs. Threadgill was 3-for-4 with two triples and an infield single.
The game ended in the fifth inning when Southeast failed to cut the lead to under ten runs.
Southeast Lauderdale will be back in action in its second division game of the season against Newton County on Friday at Southeast Field. The junior varsity will play at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity boys at 7 p.m.
