Hickory teen selected as finalist for Mississippi's Homecoming Queen

Shelly Ferguson, daughter of Johnny and Cheryl Ferguson of Hickory, has been selected as a finalist for Mississippi's 23rd Annual Homecoming Queen.
Ferguson is the Newton County High School homecoming queen. She will compete for the title of Mississippi's Homecoming Queen March 8-9 at the Covington Holiday Inn in Covington, La.
The winner sill receive a cash scholarship plus an all-expense paid trip to the national finals to compete with queens from other states for America's Homecoming Queen.
The last Mississippi Homecoming Queen from East Mississippi was Gina Rainey from Clarkdale High School, who received the title in 1995. Last year's Mississippi Homecoming Queen was Emily Gladney of Starkville Academy.
