Lauderdale man charged with child abuse

Meridian police on Saturday charged Rodrick A. Bennoman with felony child abuse. Bennoman, 19, is a resident of Route 3, Box 331-D, Lauderdale.
The arrest came after police were called to a local hospital about noon Saturday. There, a child less than a year old was being treated for injuries.
Detective Deano Harper of the Meridian Police Department declined to release the child's gender or name. He said the child was in the care of the suspect in Meridian and that the suspect is not the child's parent.
