BUTLER, Ala. Services for Philip "Pete" McIlwain will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Buddy Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Butler.
Mr. McIlwain, 81, of Pennington, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at his residence. He was retired from the Woodyard at James River. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II and Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece H. McIlwain of Pennington; son, Philip McIlwain and his wife, Carole of Hattiesburg, Miss.; daughter, Kathy White and husband, Doug of Lavaca; brother, Russell McIlwain of Silas; grandchildren, Leah Ford and Blake McIlwain; and great grandchildren, Alexia, Austin, and Brandon Ford.
HOWARD RAY POOVEY

QUITMAN Services for Howard Ray Poovey will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Archusa Memorial Gardens with Wright's Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Poovey, 80, of Quitman, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Smith of Quitman; five daughters, Meredith Sullivan of Dallas; Madalyne Lange of Greenville, Texas; Sylvia Jane Butler of Baldwin, Mo.; Tammy Pollen of Biloxi; and Vickie Rogers of Orlando; a son, Robert D. Powell and his wife, Dixie, of Meridian; and a sister, Dorothy Shipley, and two brothers, David and Jerry Poovey, all of Garland, Texas; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday after 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
ALFRED WATKINS
Disabled veteran
PHILADELPHIA Services for Alfred Watkins will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Charles Morrow and Ray Files officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Bethel Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mr. Watkins, 77, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Kosciusko. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Jeff Watkins of Philadelphia; daughters, Iva Jean Gilmer and Tony McKinion, both of Philadelphia, Iba Dean Graham of Union, and Debby Ladd of Ocean Springs; sons, Kenneth Watkins of Bailey, Colo., Ronald Watkins and Rodney Ladd, both of Philadelphia; a sister, Addie Sweeney of Moss Point; a brother, Earl Watkins Sr., of Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
CHARLES WENDELL SMITH SR
Services for Charles Wendell Smith Sr. will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at McClain-Hayes Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Duvall officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery in Philadelphia with McClain-Hays Funeral Service, Inc. in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 53, of Philadelphia died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at his home in Philadelphia. He was employed as a logger and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Survivors include four daughters, Darlene Alexander, Charlene Deweese, Christina Burt, all of Philadelphia; and Kathy Davidson of Florence; two sons, Wendell Smith Walker and Charles Wendell Smith, both of Philadelphia; two sisters, Wyvette Harvey and Margie Long, both of Philadelphia; three brothers, Randall Smith of Morton, Terry Smith and Earl Smith, both of Philadelphia; and 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
LESTER L. HENDERSON
Retired machinist
Graveside services for Lester L. Henderson will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at New Prospect Cemetery in Savoy with the Rev. Matthew Terrell officiating. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Henderson, 73, of Pinetop, Ariz., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in his home.
Survivors include his wife, Mable Henderson of Pinetop; five sisters, Sadie Lockhart, Myrtis Fountain, Grace Hogan, all of Meridian, Ruby Kitchen of Jackson and Mattie Thames of Coppercove, Texas; two brothers, Billy Henderson of Meridian and Leodis Henderson of Tampa, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Monday from noon – 1 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church in Savoy.
WILLIE DEAN
Retired
Services for Willie Dean will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Abundant Life Tabernacle Church with the Rev. A.M. Mansfield officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Bethany Cemetery in DeSoto. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dean, 53, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, in her home.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew Dean; daughters, Tresia Adams, Traci Wright, Christal Grace, Wilhamina Grace; step-daughters, Andrew Dean and Tanya Dean, all of Meridian; a son, Terry Grace; a step-son, Brad Dean, both of Meridian; three sisters, Barbara Adams, Gracie Rogers and Marilyn Williams, all of Meridian; a brother, Aaron Adams of Meridian; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
CAROLYN L. FULLER
Services for Carolyn L. Fuller will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Fuller, 62, of Winston-Salem, N.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in her home.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
