Two area water associations on Friday issued boil water notices after pumping stations lost pressure.
A boil water notice was issued for 175-200 customers of the Kipling Water Association in the DeKalb area, officials said. Customers who live up Highway 39 from Kipling Road to Fire Tower Road and along Fire Tower Road are affected.
The water system lost pressure when East Mississippi Electric Power Association lost power, according to a spokesman.
Also, Central Water Association in Philadelphia advised all customers served by the House pumping station on Highway 491 South to boil water vigorously for one minute prior to consumption. The system lost pressure after a line break
Both systems must collect two back-to-back clear samples before the boil water notices can be lifted by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
