O. Jack Combest Sr.
Retired
Services for O. Jack Combest Sr. will be held today at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hugh Poole officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Combest, 75, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in his home. He was retired from U.S. Steel and Rush Foundation Hospital security. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War and was a member of Rose Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janis H. Combest; children, Jack Combest and his wife, Lynn, all of Meridian, and Jenny McDaniel of Collinsville; a granddaughter, Joely McDaniel; sisters, Mary Massingill and her husband, Joe, of Opelika, Ala., Martha Broadhead and her husband, Norris of Meridian, Nell Finnegan and her husband, J.A., of Rose Hill, Joyce Thompson of Birmingham, Ala., Diane Hudnall and her husband, Wally, of Meridian; a sister-in-law, Jackie Liddle of Meridian and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Addis Combest and Mary Combest.
Pallbearers will be John Finnegan, Mike Finnegan, Nick Finnegan, Darryl Combest, Sammy Broadhead and Aaron Davidson.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Burnett, Willie Mosely, Haskel Smith, Erbie Usrey and James Hale.

Graveside services for Florence Jones Shirley will be held today at 3 p.m. at Long Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bob Barker officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shirley, 87, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Joyce Johnson and her husband Gray, of Meridian; three grandchildren, Cathy Moran and her husband, Charlie, of Walker, La., Dianne Kitchens and her husband, Don, of Plano, Texas and Larry Johnson of Newton; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Eubanks, Daniel and David Kitchens and Kyle Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. Shirley; her parents, Harvey and Flora Jones.
Pallbearers will be in Jack Jackson, Jim Cochran, Roger Shirley, Michael Shirley, Buddy Shirley, Paul J. Shirley and Robert Earl Shirley, Robert Donald Kittrell, Robert Broadhead, Jimmy Harrison, and Roy Ratcliff.
Visitation will be today from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

GULFPORT Services for Danny Williams will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Gulfport Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2 p. m. in Sand Springs Cemetery in Newton County.
Mr. Williams, 51, of Carriere, Miss., formerly of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in Gulfport.
Survivors include his sister, Sandra F. Williams of Carriere; brothers, Ottis Williams of Dallas, Allen Williams of Palm Beach, Fla., and Devon Williams of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.S. Williams; a sister, Sybil Allen; and a brother, L.H. Williams.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 609 Corinne St., Suite B-1, Hattiesburg, MS 39401.
Visitation will be today 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James R. Wallace

Services for James R. "Ron" Wallace will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Russell Baptist Church with the Rev. Clay Chancelor officiating. Burial will be in Old Marion Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wallace, 59, of Meridian, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a member of Russell Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Kay R. Wallace of Meridian; children, Jean Tugh, Dawn Moss, Michelle Gilley and Tommy Wallace, all of Alabama; stepdaughters, Theresa James and her husband, Billy Ray, of Bruce and Lisa Stodard and her husband, Paul, of Tupelo; three step-grandchildren and five grandchildren; and a sister, Cathy Tomlin and her husband, Tim, of Birmingham, Ala.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at Russell Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Ted Sellers, Melvin Harper, Bill Henderson, Tex Jones, Sid Shirley, Robbie Reece, Perry Sims and Bernard Linton.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Men's Sunday school class.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Rena Mae Todd Doggett
BUTLER, Ala. Services for Rena Mae Todd Doggett will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New Hope Church of God in Toxey, Ala., with the Rev. Jimmy Loyed and Charlie Ganus officiating. Burial will be in Gilbertown Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Doggett, 93, of Gilbertown, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Willow Trace Nursing Center in Butler.
Survivors include her husband of 77 years, Willie E. Doggett; 10 daughters, Edna Harris of Florence, Estelle Boles of New Hebron, Vennie Lee McIlwain of Gilbertown, Bernice Arrington of Aquila, Ala., Deloris Gunn of Reynolds, Ga., Shirley Patrick of Gilbertown, Carolyn Cooper of Meridian, Ann Doggett of Needham, Marlon Koon of Ward and Nelda Gay Cessna of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Earl Doggett of Big Spring, Texas, and James Doggett of Needham; 36 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Virgie Bennett of Saraland, Ala., Geneva Ganus of Milry, Ala., Grace Graham and Ruth Lewis, both of Quitman.
Visitation will be today at 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
