PHILADELPHIA Authorities are investigating the death of a 39-year-old Philadelphia woman whose car went off a Neshoba County road and plunged into a creek east of here.
Sheila Griffin was found Tuesday in her 1998 Honda Accord, which was upside down in Dry Creek off Neshoba County Road 456, Coroner Allen Collins said.
Collins said the body was sent to Jackson for an autopsy to be performed by the state-paid pathologist, Dr. Steve Hayne.
Collins said the wreck happened near Griffin's home, located at 104900 County Road 456, Philadelphia.
He said Griffin left at about 7:30 a.m. to go to work in Philadelphia and that he received a call about 12:50 p.m. after a passerby saw the car in the water.
Neshoba County sheriff's deputies, state game and fish commission officers and county and city firefighters were also at the scene.
Collins said there a few onlookers were also at the scene, located along a dirt road that passes through forests and pastureland.
Collins said Griffin was not wearing a seat belt.
