Services for William Lathen "George" Washington will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop, La., with the Rev. David Hayward officiating. Burial will be in Christ Cemetery in Bastrop with Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler, Ala., in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Washington, 79, of New London, N.H., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in his home. He was a retired machine tender for the James River Corporation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving in World War II.
Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Hayward and her husband, David, of New London, and Wilma Newton and her husband, Jimmy, of Lavaca, Ala.; a son, Roy Washington of Lavaca; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Washington; his mother, Leona Blanche Hartley; and his wife, Betty Washington.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home and Friday from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.
Edgar B. Pettus
Retired
Services for Edgar B. Pettus will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Clark's Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. M.W. Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Scooba.
Mr. Pettus, 86, of Scooba, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Geneviel Pettus of Scooba; five children, Callie Harper and her husband, Ewell, of Beth, Maine, Elouise Heildelburg and her husband, Willie, of Meridian, Carrie Pettus of Columbus, Ohio, Frances Pittman of Sumrall and Barbara Kimbrough and her husband, Willie, of Louisiana; a brother, Charles Pettus and his wife, Betty, of St. Louis; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and two brothers.
Visitation will be Friday 1 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
Samuel Edward Quinnelly
JACKSONVILLE, Ark. Services for Samuel Edward Quinnelly were held Monday in the chapel of Moore's Funeral Home with the Rev. Cliff Hutchins officiating. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Quinnelly, 73, of Jacksonville, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002. He was a native of Meridian and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from service after 26 years and then retired from the State Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Audrey Vernell "Nell" McPheeters Quinnelly; a son, Kenn Quinnelly and his wife, Debbie, of Heber Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Cynthia Quinnelly and her husband, Mike, of Birmingham, Ala., and Susan Nation and her husband, Bill, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Shelba Mills of Meridian; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel C. and Alice Edwards Quinnelly; and a sister, Carolyn.

QUITMAN Services for Viola McGill were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Advail McKenzie officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McGill, 92, of Quitman, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Lakeside Living Center in Quitman.
