State Treasurer Marshall Bennett was in Meridian recently promoting the Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Program, better known as MPACT.
Established six years ago by the Legislature, the program allows Mississippians to save for their children's college educations.
More than 14,000 applications have been received since the program began and the invested balance of the MPACT Trust Fund totals more than $83 million.
The state also offers the Mississippi Affordable College Savings program or MACS.
Through MACS, families can save for tuition, books, fees, room and board, and other expenses. For more information about the programs or how to apply, call toll-free (800) 987-4450.
