Meridian Transit System shows what it can do

The Meridian Transit System took public officials and members of the media on a "Rolling Media Tour" on Monday.
The "Mall Route," as it is known including stops at Union Station, the Greater Meridian Health Clinic, Value Fair Mall, Sowashee Courts, Mt. Barton Apartments, FoodMax and Bonita Lakes Mall was showcased.
The Meridian Transit System offers transportation services to all Meridian area residents. Daily routes run from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with buses running every 40 minutes.
Transportation service also runs to Naval Air Station Meridian from 6 a.m. to midnight.
The Meridian Transit System has "para-transit services" for disabled residents during regular route hours and buses can be chartered for a bus for church or social groups for trips anywhere within the state.
The following are Meridian Transit System bus fares and transfers: General fare, $1; senior citizens, 75 cents; para-transit, $2; transfers, 25 cents; children 3 and up, 40 cents; children under 3, free.
