City employee charged with embezzlement

A Meridian employee was arrested Wednesday on embezzlement charges for taking possession of city property that came into his care, police said.
Detective Deano Harper, the Meridian Police Department spokesman, would not say what the property was that Tommy Eakins is charged with taking. Eakins is being held in the Lauderdale County jail on a $5,000 bond.
In other police action, Kyle Aaron Stiefel was arrested and charged with armed robbery in connection with the Sept. 1 robbery of the Shell Station on Highway 19 North.
Harper said that a man entered the store carrying a gun and stole the cash register. Harper said a tip lead to Stiefel's arrest; Stiefel is being held in the Lauderdale County jail on $50,000 bond.
Harper also said that Jeffery Clark was arrested and charged with burglary and first degree arson in connection with a house burglary and fire in late July.
Harper said investigative work lead to Clark's arrest. Clark is being held in the Lauderdale County jail on a $20,000 bond on each charge.
