Fall and Winter season is here

Dust off the bowling bags, clean the shoes, polish the bowling ball because the 2002/2003 Fall &Winter season is ready to roll. Organizational meetings for all leagues begin in six days starting with the Senior Citizens league Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. That evening the Hucklebuck and Monday Nighters leagues will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will see meetings for the Bowlerettes and Tuesday Night Mixed leagues. Of course, the Wednesday Night Mixed league will hold its season opening meeting the following night. The Dixie Belles and Queen City leagues get together next Thursday and the Ball &Chain league organizes Friday. All meetings will take place at Dixie Bowl and will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. New bowlers and those looking to join teams should arrive a little early.
All teams should be represented by at least one person at each meeting. However, I encourage each member to be present. The organizational meeting will set the rules by which the league operates the entire year. This is your one chance to voice your opinion and vote on the rules and regulations that you will compete under for the entire season. Also, some leagues will use the meeting to elect officers for the season. Therefore it is vitally important for as many members as possible to be present for this important part of your league.
I haven't hear from all the leagues, but I do know that the Bowlerettes ladies league on Tuesday night is looking for four women to complete a team in that league. Most leagues will have openings for teams and/or individuals to fill vacant spots, so if you are interested in any particular league or know someone who is, please be sure to contact an officer of that league or Dixie Bowl for more information.
The Stan's Classic Tournaments Handicap Doubles tournament is off and running and will continue each weekend this month before concluding on Labor Day. There are four shifts each Saturday and three shifts each Sunday and Labor Day beginning at 10 a.m. Grab a partner or two and take your chance to win the $3000 First Place prize.
