A late-afternoon shooting ended with a Meridian man driving himself to the hospital after being shot in the leg.
About 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Willy Williams drove to the emergency room at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in a green Capri.
Police Chief Benny DuBose said Williams was shot in the leg while getting out of his car at the corner of 15th Street and 34th Avenue. DuBose said 20 shots were fired at Williams.
Police said the incident was one of several; the trouble began at Frank Berry Court.
DuBose said there were three reports of shots being fired during the afternoon. The last one came from the area of 11th Street and 36th Avenue minutes after Williams was shot.
The Meridian Police Department is investigating, but has not made any arrests yet.
The suspects used several cars, but DuBose said he is not sure how many people were involved.
Anyone with any information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 485-1860.
