A Marion man remained in Lauderdale County jail Friday night the first of several expected arrests in the burglary of eight vehicles in the Lake Ross Collins subdivision.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Brandon Myers, 20, 453 Sookalena St., on Friday and charged him with one of the burglaries. He was being held on $20,000 bond and is expected to remain in jail through the weekend.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said that Myers had in his possession a stereo amplifier that was removed Sunday night from one of the subdivision's cars.
Sollie said deputies arrested Myers after a resident in the area found a piece of evidence. The sheriff would not say what the evidence was; he said his department used it to identify and arrest Myers.
The Lake Ross Collins vehicles were broken into between 11 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday. Officials said that cell phones, audio equipment and compact discs were removed from the vehicles.
Sollie said that more arrests will be made in the case, including possible additional charges against Myers.
Anyone with information in the case can call CrimeStoppers at 917-8888.
