    OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5, 2001

    Services for Phillip Collins Jr. were held Saturday at Enterprise Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Debra Brewer officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
    Mr. Collins, 36, of Meridian, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Jackson.
    Survivors include his wife, Rita Lemon Collins and two sons, Phillip Collins III and Pvt. Tierrian Lemon, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Lee Nelson and a brother, Lee Nelson Jr., all of Meridian; and a sister, Rosalind Bramlett and her husband, Ellis, of Atlanta.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Collins Sr.

    QUITMAN Services for Maxie Chandler will be held today at 11 a.m. at Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Revs. Glen Lafferty and Larry Browning officiating. Burial will be in Archusa Memorial Gardens with Wright's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Chandler, 75, of Quitman, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Golden Meadow Specialty Care.
    Survivors include five sons, Bobby Ray Chandler and Jackie Albritton Sr. of Stonewall, Billy Albritton of Quitman, Everett Albritton of Columbia, La., and Johnny Albritton of Olla, La.; a daughter, Patricia Mayo of Quitman; two brothers, L.D. Chandler of Jackson and Theodore Chandler of Enterprise; a sister, Bertha Dunnam of Alexandria, La.; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

    MACON Services for Lucy Fraley Brown will be held today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Whitney and Byron Pickering officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery with Cockrell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Brown, 78, of Macon, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, in her home.
    Survivors include a daughter, Ibby Morris of Macon; two sons, Charles Green of Macon and Elmer Green of Pontotoc; two sisters, Virginia Sanders and Louise Fraley of Meridian; a brother, A.D. Fraley of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Green and Edwin Brown; a daughter and a grandson.
    The family requests memorials be made to a Christian mission effort of your choice.
    MAMIE JIMERSON
    Services for Mamie Jimerson will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Enterprise Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cole officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
    Mrs. Jimerson, 107, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Meridian Community Living Center.
    Survivors include a son, Sammie Ray Jimerson and his wife, Edna, of Meridian.
    BESSIE NICHOLSON CARTER BUNTYN

    UNION Services for Bessie Nicholson Carter Buntyn will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Chaney and Scott Carter officiating. Burial will be in Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mrs. Buntyn, 88, of Jackson, formerly of Union, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson. She was a member of Rock Branch Baptist Church.
    Survivors include a son, John Arthur Carter Jr. and his wife, Barbara Faye, of Pearl; a sister, Dot Mowdy of Conehatta; five brothers, Holcomb Nicholson of Union, Frank Nicholson of South Haven, Bruce Nicholson of Newton, Kenneth Nicholson of Gulfport and James H. Nicholson of Little Rock; a grandson, Scott Carter and a great-grandson, Matt Carter of Pearl.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Odessa Wroten, and two brothers, Shelby and Bobby Nicholson.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    TUSCUMBIA, Ala. Services for Howard Hepburn Turberville Sr. will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church with the Rev. J. Patrick Tierney officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with Morrison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Turberville, 84, of Cherokee, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001.
    Survivors include his wife, Erice Williams Turberville of Cherokee; a son, Howard H. Turberville Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Meridian; a daughter, Nancy T. Belue and her husband, Larry, of Florence; sisters, Mary Margaret Taylor of Tuscumbia, Alice T. Locker of Florence and Sarah Turberville of Sheffield; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Turberville of Sheffield; and five grandchildren.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    JEWELL T. HARRIS
    NEWTON Services for Jewell T. Harris will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Brown officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
    Mrs. Harris, 95, of Saraland, Ala, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Saraland.
    Survivors include a son, Marcus Turner Harris and his wife, Yvonne, of Saraland; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Velpo Harris.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    GERALD G. PLOWMAN
    Retired truck driver
    Graveside services for Gerald G. "Jerry" Plowman will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sumter Memorial Garden Cemetery with the Rev. Francis Vlok officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Plowman, 62, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Meridian. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Ann Wimberly Plowman of Meridian; a son, Scoot Plowman and his wife, Debra, of Hamilton, Ala.; a daughter, Denise Henson of Gulf Shores, Ala.; step-children, Lauren Clay and her husband, Bruce, of DeKalb, Janis Overby and her husband, John, Cynda Wimberly and Bud Wimberly and his wife, Lori, all of Meridian, Jada Freeman and her husband, Jeff, of Gulf Shores; 12 grandchildren, Amy Plowman, Garr Plowman, Brittany Henson, Celina Harbor, Caleb Clay, Zac Clay, Rachel Clay, Jacob Overby, Jared Overby, Richie Bailey, Tyler Richardson and Abby Freeman.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannett Olive Plowman.
    Pallbearers will be Bud Wimberly, Richie Bailey, Caleb Clay, Garr Plowman, Bruce Clay and Tommy Harrison.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    HELEN RUTH PUCKETT RICHARDSON
    WILLOW SPRINGS, Mo. Helen Ruth Puckett Richardson began this life Sept. 30, 1919, in Willow Springs, where she was raised and graduated high school.
    She entered into eternal life on Dec. 4, 2001. Among those awaiting her arrival are her parents, Walter Eugene and Dora Lee Radford Puckett; a sister, Evelyn Woods; and her husband, Jack Richardson, to whom she was married 31 years until his eternal life began on Feb. 19, 2000; a son, Clinton Dale Clark (son of Covert C. Clark); and a grandson, Clifford L. Estell.
    She will be waiting for a reunion with three daughters and their families, Betty and Gayle Sterner of Cabool, Mo., Charlene and Charles Estell of Oklahoma City, Shirley and Danny Kelley of Meridian (with whom she was living and being cared for); stepson, J.R. and Linda Richardson of Tonawanda, N.Y.; stepdaughters, Eveyln Lary of Tulsa, Okla., Carla and Ronnie Birchfield, Ethel Brown and Dee and Tommy Thompson, all of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee Puckett and family of Bloomington, Ind., as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
    Services will be held at Willow Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Willows Springs Cemetery.
