OBITUARIES FOR TUESDAY, AUG. 7, 2001

OLIVER THRASH
Retired contractor
PHILADELPHIA Services for Oliver "Snooks" Thrash will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be in Ocobla Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mr. Thrash, 75, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Neshoba County General Hospital. He was a World War II veteran.
Mr. Thrash was a native of Neshoba County. He was a longtime resident of Greenville, moving back to Philadelphia a year ago. He was a retired contractor and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of East Philadelphia Baptist Church and was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Thrash of Philadelphia; a daughter, Deborah Elaine Bennett and her husband, Charlie, both of Vicksburg; two sons, Sgt. Major Jerry Kent Thrash and his wife, Gail, both of Clinton, and James Oliver Thrash and his wife, Teresa, both of Greenville; two sisters, Peggy Gray of Huntsville, Ala., and Linda Cleveland of Brentwood, Tenn.; a brother, A.T. "Winkie" Thrash of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
ESTHER PIERCE THOMPSON

MACON Services for Esther Pierce Thompson will be held today at 2 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Gerber officiating. Burial will be in Shuqualak Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson, 86, of the Pinetucky Community near Shuqualak, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Joann Green and her husband, Robert, of Grand Bay, Ala., and Britty Prince and her husband, Jeff, of Shuqualak; a son, Melvin Thompson and his wife, Ann, of Trinity, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Bernice Thompson of Phenix City, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thomas Thompson, and a son, Robert Thomas Thompson.
The family requests memorials be made to United Methodist Senior Services of Mississippi, P.O. Box 2514, Tupelo, MS 38803-2514.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
ANNETTE GORDON
Services for Annette Gordon will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Columbus, with the Rev. Lamar Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sandfield Community Cemetery in Columbus, with Clark's Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gordon, 85, of Columbus, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include eight grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gordon, a daughter and three sons.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
NEVA ADAIR SMITH
Homemaker
Services for Neva Adair Smith will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Chunky Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Chunky Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 71, of Chunky, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Chunky Baptist Church and the Chunky Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred J. Smith Jr. of Chunky; five daughters, Neva Rath and her husband, Arthur, of Monument, Colo., Patrica Barber and her husband, Tim, of Chunky, Debra Simpson and her husband, Clint, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cynthia Gutowski and her husband, Steve, of Bolingbrook, Ill., Courtney Horton and her husband, John, of Cuba, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Rath, Melissa Oldenburg, Michael Muscolino, Brandy Gutowski, Roger Muscolino, Lucas Gutowski, Andrew Rath, John Cuvala and Tina Muscolino; two sisters, Calista Smith of Zachary, La., and Joyce Hall of El Paso, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Adair of Grandbury, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold A. Adair and Courtney Irene.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
