    OBITUARIES FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 29, 2001

    ALBERT BRADY
    Services for Albert Brady will be held today at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Newton with the Rev. Ron Gilstrap officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Garden with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Brady, 72, of Newton, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice. For more than 20 years Mr. Brady worked as a supervisor of grounds for Clarke Memorial College. Upon retiring from Clarke, he operated his own air conditioning and refrigeration company. Mr. Brady was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served in numerous leadership positions including Deacon and Trustee.
    Mr. Brady is survived by a large family including his wife, Margaret Brady; their four children, Ginger Way and her husband, Joe Way, of Newton, Albert Brady Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Florence, Pat Tannehill and her husband, John, of Mandeville, La., and their youngest son Joseph Brady of Jackson.
    Mr. Brady is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jake Way, Nikki Way, Shasity Virgil, Casey Brady, Stephen Brady, Keelie Broom, Bayli Broom and Laural Tannehill; two great-grandchildren, Corey Harrison and Elizabeth Virgil.
    Mr. Brady's surviving siblings include Dorothy Sessums of Raeford, N. C., Herb Brady of Pasco, Wash., Mable "Joe" Burnette of Vidalia, La., and Mavis Daniel of Natchez.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Brady Sr., his mother, Euna Mae Brady and his brother, William Brady Sr.
    Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Guardian Angel Hospice.
    Pallbearers will be Stephen Brady, William Brady Jr., Vernon Burnette, Clifford Sumrall, Jon Pace and Mike Ward.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Levon Broom, Norman Hollingsworth, Robert Kelly, Robert Munn and C.A. Stamper.
    ERNEST O'DELL MARTIN
    Services for Ernest O'dell Martin will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Cemetery. Enterprise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Martin, 77, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Saturday, June 23, 2001, in Stockton, Calif.
    Survivors include his children, Mary Catherine Becknell, Ernest Martin Jr., Christina Holmes, Adam Martin, Dominic Martin; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
    PAUL M. HENRY

    NEWTON Graveside services for Paul M. Henry will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Newton County Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Billy Owens officiating. Barham Funeral Home of Newton is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Henry, 78, of Bakersville, Calif., died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in Bakersville.
    After fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer, Paul M. Henry passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2001. A celebration of life was held at the Glass and Garden Chapel at Olive Drive Church, on Monday, June 25, at 11 a.m.
    Paul was born in Biola, Calif. on November 18, 1922 to Mack and Lizzie Henry. He was the youngest of six children. At the age of 16 he pitched four no hitters while playing professional softball for the Taft Oildrillers and led his team to a national championship. At the University of Southern California he played third base for the Trojans and batted .457 and was selected to the all coast team.
    Paul graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in mathematics and education.
    While in the Navy during World War II Paul served on the aircraft carrier Princeton. He was called back to duty during the Korean Conflict. Paul began his teaching career in 1948 at Wasco Elementary. From 1949 until 1983 he taught 35 years at Standard Middle School where he touched the lives of many.
    For 30 years Paul officiated baseball and basketball games. In 1966-1967 he was president of the Kern County Officials. In the Spring of 1982 he was inducted into the Kern County Officials Hall of Fame.
    After retiring from teaching Paul and his wife Carole enjoyed following and supporting their grandchildren's many activities.
    Survivors include his wife, Carole Pace Henry of Bakersfield; two daughters, Marsha Eggman and her husband, Art, and Pam Bailey and her husband, Tom, all of Bakersfield; two sons, Bill Henry and his wife, Gina, of Bakersfield and David Henry of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren, Lisa Schimnowski, Kristin Moore, Danny Henry, Andy Puget, Travis Ford, Janae Henry, Stephanie Ford, Joshua Landes and Brittney Landes; one great-grandchild, Ella Schimnowski; a sister, Nina White of Bakersfield; a mother-in-law, Jessie Pace of Decatur; a sister-in-law, Jan Hayes of Quitman; a brother-in-law, David Pace of Madison; and numerous nieces, nephews, lifelong and special friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
    The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Decatur United Methodist Church.
    IDA MAE ROBERTSON

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Ida Mae Robertson will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be in Sandtown Cemetery in Philadelphia.
    Mrs. Robertson, 89, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Choctaw Residential Center.
    Survivors include three sons, Jerry Fulton of Brandon, Billy and Bobby Robertson, both of Philadelphia; three brothers, Ray Fulton of Philadelphia, Clark Fulton of Preston and Jerry Fulton of Brandon; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, R.B. Robertson, and a granddaughter, Tresa Robertson.
    Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Retired railroad machine operator
    DEKALB Services for Kelly J. "KJ" Ford Sr. will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Union Kemper Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Coats officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Ford, 93, of Lauderdale, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
    Survivors include five daughters, Emma Crowe, Betty Banks and her husband, Melvin, and Janice Gaddis, all of Lauderdale, Mattie Baylor and her husband, Joe, of DeKalb, and Chelsie Brown of Jackson; four sons, Luther Clayton of Englewood, Calif., Kelly J. Ford Jr. and Joe Ford, both of Lauderdale, and Pinkie Ford and his wife, Donna, of New Orleans; a sister, Annie Jenkins of Daleville; 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his wife and two siblings.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in Meridian.
