Lady Rebels take Huntington title

The Heidelberg Academy girls softball team has rolled up a 21-4 record as it enters Saturday's District 3-A Tournament at Central Academy in Macon.
The Lady Rebels will be playing against Kemper Academy, Sylva-Bay Academy, and Central Academy.
Here is a recap of some of the Lady Rebels' games, including their recent first-place finish in the Huntington School Tournament which was held in Ferriday, La.
Huntington Tournament
Heidelberg 10, Parklane Academy 5: The Lady Rebels scored five runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to win their first tournament game.
Courtney Harrington had three singles to lead Heidelberg, while Jodi McCarra added two singles.
Heidelberg 11, Trinity 2: Harrington, Leslie Higdon and Danielle Martin all hit home runs to pace HA.
Harrington added two singles, Shana Thornton ripped four singles, and McCarra added three singles.
Heidelberg 10, Huntington 1: Suzanne Lightsey belted three singles and a double to lead HA past the host team.
The Lady Rebels scored four in the third, one in the sixth and five in the seventh. Higdon and Danielle Martin each added a double and a single.
Heidelberg 12, Jackson Academy 0: Martin, Lightsey and Emily Thornton all hit home runs, and Higdon added two triples to lead the Lady Rebels to victory.
Heidelberg 9, Sylva-Bay 8: The Lady Rebels scored in the top of the eighth inning and held on to knock off Sylva-Bay in extra innings.
Martin led Heidelberg with a triple and a double. Higdon added two doubles and a single, while McCarra hit two singles and a triple.
Ashley Green had three singles and a double for Sylva-Bay, while Ingrid Norvell and Mitzi Bayless both had three singles.
Katye Tubb and Brandi Bayless both had two singles for the Lady Saints with Katie Jo Windham hitting a double.
Other games
The Lady Rebels picked up a couple of single-game victories last week.
Heidelberg 16, Columbia Academy 2: The Lady Rebels scored nine in the first and never looked back in their win over Columbia.
Shana Thornton hit a home run, a double and a single to pace HA. Higdon, Martin, McCarra, Thornton and Stephanie Sinclair all notched two hits while Lightsey belted a single.
Heidelberg 12, Lamar 11: The Lady Rebels scored in the bottom of the seventh to claim a hard-fought win over Lamar.
Martin hit a triple, a double and two singles to pace the Lady Rebels. Courtney Harrington, Shana Thornton and Emily Thornton all added two hits.
Celia Covington hit a homer, two doubles and a single to lead the Lady Raiders, while Brittany Payne added four singles.
