Tharptown volleyball picks up wins

The Tharptown volleyball team traveled to Rogers High School Sept. 4 to face Rogers and Lauderdale County.

In both games, the Lady Wildcats lost the first set then rallied back from a 20-9 deficit in the second set to win, demanding a third set. The Lady Wildcats lost the matches in the third set, with an ending score of 15-13 and 15-12.

Tharptown traveled to Colbert County Thursday to face off agaisnt the Indians and the Sheffield Bulldogs. The Lady Wildcats won both matches in only two sets.

Big hitting numbers were put up by Erica Gray, Adriana Borden and Brooke Daily. Setters Makensy Hester and Kasey McCormack were also instrumental to the games. Sophomore Macy Petree has become one of the Lady Wildcats’ most dependable and strongest servers, gaining the most points overall in each match.

The Lady Wildcats were set to face powerhouse Addison in their first area matches Tuesday, along with Covenant Christian and Sulligent. Results were not available as of press time. They will then travel to Hackleburg Wednesday for a school-day game, and then they will head to Phillips Thursday for a tri-match with Phillips and Marion County.
