Bart Moss announces Franklin County BOE Superintendent candidacy

Bart Moss announced his candidacy for Franklin County Superintendent of Education this week. He will run on the Republican ticket.

Moss says that in his conversations with voters for the past year he sees a need for real change, real leadership, and a clean break from the current administrative structure in Franklin County.

“People want a leader who will inspire and motivate our students to be the best they can,” said Moss, a Government & Economics teacher at Tharptown High School. “They want someone who has a long-term vision for our school system, someone who has high expectations, and someone who will be actively engaged in the schools and the communities. That is the kind of candidate I will be and the kind of superintendent I will be when elected.”

Moss says the superintendent’s position is a very important position in our communities.

“A Superintendent of Education should be a leader in our communities,” said Moss.  “He should work with community and business leaders and elected officials to develop our schools and communities to their maximum potential.”

Moss says his campaign plans to focus on a few key areas: 1) creating a culture of high expectations, 2) putting students interests first, 3) reforming the broken hiring process, 4) improving communications with students, parents and the community, and 5) being more open and transparent with taxpayer concerns.

“Voters want a fresh, new perspective and fresh, new ideas. That is what I will deliver.”

Moss and his wife Amy have two children, Hayden and Ragan.

Moss is a 1989 graduate of Phil Campbell High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in Business and Marketing Education. He has a master’s degree in Education Leadership from the University of North Alabama. He has over two decades of experience in education and private business.
